i would appreciate if clocks could announce remaining time at some points during the game and especially during the byoyomi, pretty much like the famous ing clocks (though they annoy many people by this feature). KGS beeping is not bad, but voiced countdown was only reason i ever tried wbaduk28 votes
Yes, this is a very simple feature to add, and i plan to do so.
I'm suggesting to implement different display options for the game list. For example in addition to the standard display (that features a whole game description) that we already have why not implement a smaller display (that might just contain the players names and rank on a single line in a database style for example) for games that would take less space (so more games can be displayed at same time without scrolling). I'm suggesting this because with more games one would have to scroll a lot to be able to see the full list of games (either offered or ongoing)3 votes
Already an everything tab.
On the bottom of the board you can browse your game to beginning and end or one move further / backwards. It would be better to add two symbols for browsing (like) 10 moves forward/backwards.

Would be nice to see even a rough version of comments entered in foreign languages. This could be done with google translate api. It used to be free but is nowdays paid service but quite affordable one. A service like this should bring together the global community better. In addition to the translation player would need to be able to select which langauges he does not want translated and into which language he wants the translations.15 votes
I use speech recognition software which simply does not work in KGS or IGS so I definitely want Kaya to succeed.
Unfortunately, if I mention the competition in chat with my opponents, I get some insane music and background changing.
The music interferes with my dictation.
I like to hear the stones but I'd do not want to hear the random noises. As it stands, I can only mute or unmute.
Thanks for reading.1 vote
Nyancats have been removed.
Of course, ideal is that all players speak English, and make a big community. But many people feel comfortable on in mother tongue. Do you intend to offer possibility to be localized in other languages?
I am offering myself to translate it in Romanian.16 votes
Localization was implemented a long time ago. Updating languages and expanding the translation is an ongoing work as the application grows. Collaborate!
The server should support Malkovich games (as in L19x19) which can be played over the forums. Linking forum and Kaya.gs woudl automatically take care of things like hidden comments and triggered moves.13 votes
There is a malkovich command supported. Forum ID idea is rejected.
AFter reading eh documentaition on this sight and L19, there is little to no evidence of archiving, similar to what kgs has. For any server to be sucessful in my opinion, access to past games is a must, and not just immediately after the game is finished. Clean access to game archives (including those played in alpha and beta?) will build you support from strong players, who want to review and maybe help others (and me even if I'm only 18k DGS lol)1 vote
This is already done.
There will be a more comprehensive api at some point, but all games are stored.
Instead of having admins temporarily boot noisy users, the "muzzle" button would allow the online users to restrain a noisy player for a limited time.
It would work like this: suppose a player made silly remarks in kibitz or shout, then enough people (say, 10 people) "muzzled" them, then that player would lose the ability to kibitz or shout for up to 3 hours. That way, what is acceptable or not is determined by the crowd online at that time, rather than by different admins.20 votes
Congratulations! This is the first community idea that was implemented. It is now already integrated in the server and working. It takes 5 muzzles to shut someone up for an hour and a user can muzzle only once a day.
It doesn't have to be a facebook page, but it would be cool if you had a page that was more substantial than KGS's user info thing. It would have your rank graph, game records, statistics, you could post comments or sgf files, people could leave you messages. . .this is what i imagine when you say a more social go server.5 votes
Profile pages are going to be rich in content. Being in html , there is really no limit to what we can add. Im finishing this feature becasue it is customizable, although right now there wont be many things to add to it.
"Go" is a broad term that encompasses many ruleset variations and playing speeds. That includes rulesets with situational superko and suicide allowed, as well as turn-based functionality - games that last weeks or months. Please promise to allow that amount of customization when creating a game, and let people wait for an opponent to accept a game or make a move without both being online at the same time, and I'll join, and possibly contribute.15 votes
Open Kaya shows some of the advances in this area. We plan on having more than 5 time systems and mostlikely all major rulesets. However its open code, so code contributors can expand that.
I HATE having to wait for everyone to leave the game before I download an SGF. It's just annoying. Please let people without unlimited patience download their games :)21 votes
Show how many victorys or losses until the next rank will be reached. Feels really motivating to me on some other servers.16 votes
This was discussed into a rank/rating stats widget.
Simpler addition I would like to see is how long you have been a member of the Kaya community. This could easily be integrated into your profile page under the last sign-out option would be nice to see how long you've been a part of the community4 votes
Easy to do.
Allow people too specify how close, in rank they want their opponent to be. also, allow a filtering option for games i can play, or all availiable games49 votes
2 versions ago we implemented rank restrictions.
You can now pick exactly the kind of handicap you want in your games.
Allow for people to create id's in foreign languages such as Chinese.14 votes
Now when we share variations - we can only see the end result of it - it would be nice if when you click the link with someones variation you could see the order of moves and go through them with arrows - and also if they the order of these moves within the variaton would be numbered (1,2,3,4...and so on).19 votes
As clear as water.
the ability to scroll forward and backward through a game with the arrow keys26 votes
This is done and improved recently. Only Gospeed offline has this missing.
currently in alpha the first person to click your game is who you play. Gabriel told me we could not do a thing where multiple people click, and you choose who you want to play. Why don't we add a feature of challenge. You right click on someones name and challenge them to a game, and make the settings. if they accept game opens up, but they decline challenge ends.19 votes
It would help to see the changes from version to version: list of bugfixing and version number as link in the menu.2 votes
Right now it would explode. Later on maybe :)
